The Dubai Burj Khalifa is one of the world's most famous buildings and boasts the title of the tallest building in the world, for now. The construction of the skyscraper has been underway since 2004, when it was opened in early January 2010. The Burj Khalifa is an iconic structure which, in addition to the aforementioned primacy among the tallest buildings on the planet, holds several current records.
The icon of Dubai rises to a height of 829.8 m, making it visible from a distance of almost 100 km. With 189 floors, it is the tallest inhabited building of all time. In addition to being the tallest building, the Burj Khalifa also boasts the fastest elevator in the world, reaching speeds of up to 64 km / h. At the same time, with a length of over half a kilometer, it is the longest lift in the world.
However, the question remains as to how long Burj Khalifa will remain record holder. A new Jeddah Tower has been built in Saudi Arabia since 2013, with a height of over one kilometer, which should subdue the Burj Khalifa by more than 170 m. It should be completed during 2021, but remains in the stars with many construction problems. if it will be completed on time.
Luxury apartments, office space and Armani Hotel
Burj Khalifa is not just a tourist attraction and a landmark of Dubai. In the large premises of the tower there is the popular Armani Hotel, 37 floors of commercial and office space and 900 luxury private apartments and residences. If you would like to use the Armani Hotel to spend an extravagant holiday, a cheaper room at this luxurious Dubai hotel address will cost you approximately CZK 13,000 per night.
However, the opening at the time of the receding financial crisis in 2010 caused considerable problems for the owners. Initially, after the completion of construction, the occupancy of apartments was less than 10 percent. Rental prices fell at first, and Burj Khalifa was largely empty. Office space was even worse. While the flats were largely occupied after 2 years, the public's lack of interest in offices persisted. However, the world's tallest skyscraper has successfully overcome the crisis and currently most of its space already has its owners. According to data from 2020, the amount of rent in terms of approximately 120 thousand per m2. At the same time, the apartments are mainly invested in mobile Indian cream, for which Dubai is not too distant, a sought-after and quiet destination.
One of the highest pools in the world
Burj Khalifa is the most visited place in Dubai, which in recent years has become a popular destination for tourists from around the world. Its biggest attractions include three viewing platforms and a rooftop swimming pool located on the 54th floor of the building. She is also known for her festive lighting, which shades at night in the national colors of countries around the world. This happens on the most diverse occasions, whether pleasant, when the building shone with Czech colors on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Czechoslovakia in 2018, or the saddest ones, such as the memory of the victims of terrorist attacks in Manchester, England or Paris, France.
On the tallest building in the world, however, the most remarkable fact is that from the upper floors you can watch the match of the sun for a few minutes after it has gone beyond the horizon from the perspective of the lower parts of the city. Due to the speed of the lift, you can enjoy the view of the setting sun over the Arabian Peninsula twice in one evening. This fact must be kept in mind while observing religious traditions. If you are a Muslim and live on the highest floors of a skyscraper, you will fast for 2-3 minutes longer during Ramadan.
